El 20 de juny del 1705, a la ciutat de Gènova, els comissionats catalans Domènec Perera i Antoni de Peguera i l’enviat de la reina Anna d’Anglaterra, Mitford Crowe, van signar un pacte pel qual la corona anglesa prometia “la seva garantia perpètua per a assegurar els privilegis i lleis del Principat”, en moments en què la nació catalana lluitava contra els exèrcits espanyol i francès per salvaguardar la seva llibertat i el seu sistema constitucional, que va ser finalment suprimit pels decrets de Nova Planta. La corona anglesa, malauradament, no va complir el seu compromís i deixà el poble català a la seva mercè en manifesta inferioritat davant dels ocupants. Ja el mateix 1714 diputats anglesos van fer sentir la seva protesta pel que s’anomenà “el cas dels catalans”.

El 14 de juliol de l’any 2010, catorze diputats al Parlament de Westminster representants dels pobles del País de Gal·les, Escòcia, Irlanda del Nord i Anglaterra, van presentar una moció perquè el Parlament britànic aprovés un acord de suport al dret de Catalunya de decidir el seu propi futur i esdevenir un poble lliure entre els pobles lliures de la terra.

Com a mostra de reconeixement i d’estima s’ha endegat una campanya de recollida d’adhesions que farem arribar personalment als diputats britànics. Les adhesions poden fer-se a través d’aquesta pàgina web casdelscatalans.cat.

Per això convidem tothom a adherir-se al manifest adjunt i fer-lo extensiu a totes aquelles persones que vulguin manifestar el seu agraïment pel suport rebut que, ben segur, suposarà l’inici d’una nova etapa que ha de cloure amb el reconeixement internacional de la nació catalana. A aquest efecte dins la primera quinzena de juny tothom que ho desitgi podrà participar en l’expedició que es farà a Londres per al lliurament als diputats del Parlament de Westminster de les adhesions obtingudes.

On 20th June of 1705, the City of Geneva, the Catalan commissioners Perera Domènech and Antoni de Peguera and the attendant of Queen Anne of England, Mitford Crowe, signed an agreement upon which the English Crown promised “a lifetime warranty to guarantee privileges and the Laws of the Principality”. These were moments in which the Catalan Nation was fighting against the Spanish and French troops to safeguard their liberty and their constitutional system, which was finally suppressed by the Nova Planta Decrees. Unfortunately, The British Crown,, did not meet the Commitment leaving the Catalan people at their own fate in absolute inferiority of the occupants. It was as early as 1714 that English deputies protested for what was called “the case of the catalans”.

On July 17th of the year 2010, fourteen deputies of the Westminster Parliament representing the people of Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England, delivered a motion to the British Parliament so that to approve a support agreement to Catalonia for the right to decide their own future and become a free country among the free countries of the world.

As a knowledge proof and recognition an accession collection campaign has been initiated and we will personally deliver it to the British Deputies. The accessions can be done through this web site casdelscatalans.cat.

We therefore invite everybody to access to the public pronouncement and make it visible to all those people wishing to show their acknowledgment for the support received which, no doubt, will mean the beginning of a new era to bring us to the international recognition of the Catalan nation. For that purpose on the first fortnight of June all of us will be able to participate in the trip to London for the delivery of the obtained accessions to the Deputies of the Westminster Parliament.
